http://store.zwaveeurope.com/product_info.php?products_id=12436
Havent seen this type of devices before so it would be extra interesting to hear if anybody tested it.
Maybe it can work as a one way of detecting a water leak when youre off, or? Runs on battery that should last 10 years!

Z-wave Directory

There seems to be two places you should really keep an eye on if you're looking for what’s cooking in the z-wave world
http://www.pepper1.net/zwavedb/
and
http://www.z-wave.com/modules/Products/?id=26&chk=8c9c2d0b0cd1ee3ae014ed6ec24f99ea
These seems to be pretty complete databases with all Z-wave devices ever released and some pictures
But if youre a MIOS (vera) user, please also check the devices against the certified supported ones here:

Btw, just realised that this is post nr 100!! Hipp, hipp, z-way! ;-)

Fibaro flood sensor

Very nicely crafted Z-wave device. Words is not enough. Check it out on

Fibaro Flood Sensor….

What I wonder is the promised 80 Degrees Celsius. I could keep it in the Sauna and get indication when it’s ready… That’s a use case I would actually try if I ever buy one…

Revolv, the smartest home automation hub?

Here is a hub device that hosts 10! different radio transceivers but somehow I personally feel it misses one point that other HA devices have. A huge support for different devices, the list is a bit short right now but I home it will be greatly extended after the release. Good idea to have one device to rule them all but it must be better than the remotes that ones promised that…

Internet of Things

Martin at  http://harizanov.com/ has ton’s of things connected to the internet. With nice pictures of his projects. How about this web-server with built in thermometer?

And I especially would like to push for this post about the solar powered transmitter:

A lot of activity around measuring things for a low costs is available at the openenergymonitor site

http://openenergymonitor.org/emon/

if your combining some skills of soldering, arduino, raspberry pi and or the micasaverde vera you have a neat package to measure areas like air quality and power usage.

Miele@Home Con@ctivity, Or how to fully automate your kitchen.

The Miele line of household appliances is offering connectivity over power line. Some use case is simple things like starting the kitchen fan when the stove in on. Start oven from the mobile etc. Mieles system is communicating over powerline technology (that I have had some challenges with earlier http://868mhz.blogspot.fi/search/label/Powerline) What I just learned is that is seems like Miele is communicating with XML so something like Vera home automation gateway could control your kitchen, in theory. I hope somebody will play with this and let the rest of us know the result.

Z-Wave Gateway Zipabox-G1 by Zipato

Zipabox

I received an email where they ‘promise’ that this new Z-wave gateway “automatically starts talking to all connected devices in the house and connects them to the cloud so that the user can control them using tablets, smart phones, computers or TVs”. Not a bad promise! If only some of it was true. But probably a very good gateway that more technically supports both Z-wave and Zigbee.

Google glass and Home automation to become one.

If your house is not smart enough that it does what you like it to by just looking at it it seems like Google has the solution for that by connecting your spectacles with the toaster. Regarding a new patent that Google now has it seems to be possible in a near future to control most appliances in your home by just wearing the glasses. Future is here!

Self Parking Car

Maybe this would be something for the home automation system to deal with in the future. Imagine if your (Audi) drive was waiting for you as you exit the apartment and return to a parking place somewhere else when you return.
